RM-X Audio Capture is a small and simple recording tool that can create an audio file (in WAV, OGG, or MP3) from virtually any sound playing on your computer. It can grab audio coming directly from a device connected to your sound card, or from any audio and video file being played in your system. This tool can also be used as an audio player for any of the supported formats.
With this tool you will be able to play any of the video and audio files available on the Internet and store a copy of the audio stream on your computer. You do not need to download the input file – in fact, not being an audio extractor, RM-X Audio Capture is unable to open video files and rip their audio streams. However, if you decide to download it, or if it is already on your computer, all you have to do is play it back using your favorite player. The output can be saved as uncompressed audio (WAV), or as a compressed OGG or MP3 file.
Its simple and well-structured interface (with its big red “Capture” button in the middle) makes it a very easy-to-use tool for all kinds of users. The reduced number of settings and parameters available (namely, the audio codec and the input device) will allow you to start using it without any delay. As a drawback, there is no way you can customize the output quality of the OGG and MP3 files (the latter use a constant bit rate of 130 kbps).
